ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm Kristen.
I graduated with a degree in English literature and the Humanities from Tennessee Tech University in 2018 and am currently working on my M.Ed degree in curriculum and instruction. I am a five-time published short story writer. I am also currently working on two chaotic monster novels and a fantasy novel that have been with me for years alongside my short story projects. I write folk horror, weird westerns, and occasionally Southern Gothics, always focusing on the theme of "everyone is the monster" while commenting on humanity's evils as the main monster in my works. I derive inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe, Shirley Jackson, Anne Rice, and Cormac McCarthy, but spin my own twist of weirdness and horror into my stories that make them hard to define with one singular genre or category.

I have been a writer since I was a child and have never stopped creating characters and stories since then. I can confidently say that I was born into this way of life completely! I love writing about my passions, what interests me and sharing my writing journey with others. I have learned so much in my life as a writer and hope to continue growing in the profession, so I thought I would document my tips, tricks, processes, and other interesting and fun tidbits about writing on here.
I hope you enjoy browsing my site and all of the unique content I have to offer. Also check out my fiction portfolio blog, The Uncanny Raven, if you'd like to read some of my free stories as well as find my published works. The link to that blog is on my home page. Please enjoy and reach out through email or Twitter! I always enjoy meeting other writers, especially horror and weird western writers!
